Estrogen and IC
Updated: Nov 26, 2019

Hormone fluctuations can have an impact on your bladder.
When your body gets low in estrogen it will warn you with symptoms. You may start to have hot flashes, fatigue, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and bladder issues.
Low estrogen levels cause thinning of your bladder and vaginal tissues and inflammation. If your vagina is dry, your bladder lining is also dry. To help heal any lining damage you can take an estradiol patch or use gel topically. When Estradiol levels are in proper range your bladder symptoms will resolve.
The key is to notice your body's symptoms before you end up with pain or an infection. If you're experiencing pain it's time to visit the doctor.
Certain foods can also impact your estrogen and hormone levels. If you'd like help with IC, digestive issues and would like to know more how gut health impacts IC and hormones, click HERE
