The Skinny on Healthy Fat
Updated: Nov 26, 2019

Is fat good or bad for me?
For years we were told to eat low fat or avoid fat. No wonder there is so much confusion today. One of my roles as a health coach is to help you navigate through all the confusion.
I encourage adding healthy fats with every meal. If you want to prevent feeling shaky or cranky between meals, stay full for longer and keep your blood sugar stable and balanced, then this is key.
Why do we need fat?
Insulation
Vitamin and mineral absorption
Protect our organs
Steady our metabolism
Keep hormones level
Nourish our hair, skin and nails
Keep our body lubricated
Some examples of Healthy Fats:
Avocados
Eggs
Olives
Nuts and seeds
Coconut
Almond butter
Tahini
High quality organic oils
Ghee
Here is an easy and healthy fat recipe for you:
Avocado Dip
Prep time-3 minutes
Makes 1 cup
Ingredients -
1 large peeled and pitted avocado
2/3 cup plain yogurt, coconut yogurt (if dairy free, can get at Sprouts)
1 diced tomato
a squirt of lemon or lime juice
a dash or two of cayenne pepper
sea salt and black pepper
Directions -
Mash the avocado until smooth. Add yogurt, cayenne and blend until smooth. Add sea salt and pepper. Serve chilled with raw veggies. I prefer carrots or celery. I have used peppers and also made gluten free tortilla chips by using a gluten free tortilla, sliced and use a little oil and sea salt before baking in oven.
